Nico Hulkenberg: "It's likely that I'll remain with Renault" for 2020 F1 season
While nothing has been confirmed yet, Nico Hulkenberg says "it's likely" that he will remain a Renault driver for the 2020 Formula 1 season. His current teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, already has a deal which will see him compete for the French team next season.
Things haven't been running as smoothly as the team would've expected in March. After claiming the 'best of the rest' position with some comfort last season, Renault has a fight with McLaren to claim that spot back.
Hulkenberg, who joined the team at the start of the 2017 Formula 1 season, admits he's disappointed with the performance. The German can see light at the end of the tunnel.
"It's fair to say we can't be happy with what we achieved and to start with we had a lot of issues. It's disappointing where we are with pace and the development rate, it's not where we need it or wanted it to be," Hulkenberg said.
"[It's 21 points] that's a fact. We could be right up there with them if you add up the complications and problems we should be there or thereabouts. Nevertheless, we can see light at the end of the tunnel and we believe we can catch up.[For the future] As for now there is nothing set in stone, but I think it's likely that I'll remain with the team."
