Marko: Gasly's crash was a "simple mistake while driving"
Helmut Marko wasn't pleased with Pierre Gasly as Marko says it was his "simple mistake" which caused the crash during the second practice session of the German Grand Prix weekend. Gasly finished the session in P15.
It's not the time of year when Gasly wants to be making these kinds of mistakes. Especially after a positive week at the British Grand Prix. Ahead of contract negotiation time, he hasn't done a good job to get the Red Bull team advisor on his side.
"It was a simple mistake while driving. There was no problem with the car, but Pierre just lost control of the car. I hope it has no influence on his self-confidence. The focus is currently on whether we can repair the car. We have absolutely no shortage of skills, but our load of spare parts is starting to get smaller," Marko told Speedweek.
Gasly's teammate, Max Verstappen, has been pushing the car hard and sits ahead of both Ferrari drivers in the Formula 1 world championship. If Red Bull really wants to take the battle to Ferrari after the coming months, then Gasly must improve his game. Otherwise, it might be an early exit.
