Hamilton: "The Ferraris were on another level"
Lewis Hamilton will start from pole position for the German Grand Prix on Sunday. The Formula 1 world championship leader thought he'd have to fight both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc, but it didn't happen.
Both Ferrari cars were ruled out of qualifying after two separate problems prevented them from running. Hamilton believes the Ferraris were on another level during the practice sessions and that it would have been difficult to beat them.
"We've brought upgrades but they've been fast all weekend and the Ferraris were on another level but the time at the end was good enough to compete with Charles Leclerc had he done a lap in Q3," Hamilton said.
"This track is incredible, it gets faster every year we come here and turn 1 is flat-out."
Hamilton won't have the two Ferraris breathing down his neck at the start of the German Grand Prix. However, Max Verstappen finished ahead of Valtteri Bottas so Hamilton will have work to do.
