Hamilton: "My worst day in the office for a long time"
Lewis Hamilton finished the race outside the points for the first time since the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix (ignoring DNF's). The German Grand Prix was a disaster for Hamilton and Mercedes. The Formula 1 world championship leader believes it's his worst day in F1 for a long time.
"It was just a bad day, a bad weekend. There's not much to say really, it was probably the worst day I've had in the office for a long long time," Hamilton told Sky Sports after his P11 finish.
"You live and you learn. I don't really know what happened to be honest, but I'm glad it's over. There are a lot more races up ahead so we've just got to focus on regrouping."
Hamilton ran wide and kissed the wall just after Charles Leclerc ended his race. The Brit was forced to make a pitstop without the Mercedes crew being ready. Hamilton says this is just one error which cost Mercedes.
"Well me hitting the wall wasn't helpful and them putting on the slick tyres wasn't helpful so it was just a combination of things," Hamilton said.
