Haas' race pace was better but Magnussen is relieved to have a break
Kevin Magnussen has admitted the race pace Haas showed at the Hungarian Grand Prix was pretty good by their standard, despite once again finishing outside the point-scoring finishes.
Magnussen finished one place higher from where he started as he came over the line in 13th place. It was a better day for the Dane who had a difficult Saturday after complaining about a lack of grip until his exit in the second session of qualifying.
Magnussen admitted that the team's performance was better than it has been this season but it was still not up to the standard they want.
"The car was okay in the race today, not too bad at least, for our level," Magnussen said in Haas' post-race report.
"Considering the problems we’ve had this year, it was pretty quick race pace – not good race pace, but compared to ourselves in the past.
With the summer break upon us Magnussen is relieved to have a break and vowed to come back stronger.
"I’m happy we’re headed into the summer break now, we all are in the team, everyone’s ready for the break. We’ll come back stronger," he added.
