Silly season: Grosjean to go and all change at Williams?
With the Formula 1 summer break upon us the rumour mill is rife with the biggest stories in the world of motorsport. Today we look at potential changes at Haas and Williams as the 'Silly Season' gets underway!
What a strange season it has been for Haas! They've often had brilliant qualifying sessions, but in the races they've just gone backwards! The team sit ninth in the constructors' standings as they fail to understand the 2019 tyres, with French driver Romain Grosjean seemingly under pressure to perform.
It was Grosjean's second half of last season that convinced Haas to give him another contract, but we could be seeing the end of the French driver in Formula 1 after this season.
Sergio Perez was linked to the team previously, but he seems to have sorted his contract situation with Racing Point, and the American team has now turned to Nico Hulkenberg, to set up a spicy partnership with Kevin Magnussen.
Things are similarly unclear at Williams, with Robert Kubica's dream return to F1 not going the way he would've hoped, despite that fairytale point in Germany.
Sadly the Pole has not been at the pace we knew he had previously and has been comfortably beaten by rookie George Russell. It seems as if Kubica's time is up and it's likely that he will be replaced by reserve driver and F2 star Nicholas Latifi, who has already participated in practice sessions and tests for the team.
Russell is not a confirmed driver either, with there still being an outside chance of the reigning F2 champion joining Mercedes, although he looks to be third in the pecking order behind both Valtteri Bottas and Esteban Ocon.
So the line ups for Haas and Williams respectively could be: Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen for Haas and George Russell and Nicholas Latifi for Williams! Do you agree? Comment below...
