Prost: Time is running out for Renault "Without performance, the pressure grows"
Renault have serious intentions of catching up with the big three teams. Last year, the French team managed to clinch the 'best of the rest' position but this year they're behind McLaren with just a third of the season to go. But last weekend in Italy, Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg recorded a P4 and P5.
The four-time world champion insists the increasing pressures from a struggling team will decrease with improved performances.
“There were a few races where we lost a lot of points and missed opportunities, including Monaco and Spa. We lost a lot of points then. If such races are a recurring issue, then you will logically come under pressure," Prost reported to Motorsport-total.com.
“Much better than performing at Monza is currently difficult for us. We have a great team, it is a deserved result because they work hard in times of high pressure."
“We were in Italy where we are supposed to be. From here we have to tackle it step by step. We have goals that need to be achieved, if we don't succeed, then the pressure will continue to increase and that's not good if you try to build a team," said the Renault consultant.
