- Tom Mason
Pirelli has finished the first test of the 2021 season tyres, which are 18-inch. It was done by ex Williams driver Sergey Sirotkin who completed 213 laps at the French Grand Prix circuit.
The development program for the tyres will go up to 25 test days next year and will be shared amongst the ten teams.
McLaren and Mercedes have both already said when they will run their cars in October and November respectively.
"We completed our planned programme as expected, covering 213 laps with the 18-inch tyres over two days," said Pirelli F1 boss Mario Isola as quoted by Autosport.
"This was very useful for us to take a first look at the new generation of tyres and start shaping the development path that we will follow for the remainder of this year and next year."
Esteban Ocon was also a part of the test finishing 212 laps in a 2019-spec Mercedes to complete the final scheduled test for its 2020 season tyres.
