Lewis Hamilton opens up on his driving test!
Being a good racing driver doesn't always mean you can drive well on the road. However, Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he passed his driving test first time, despite being "nervous as hell."
“I did, yes. I was as nervous as hell. I think I had three lessons," Hamilton said to Archie Hamilton's YouTube Channel. "I’m a very visual person, so I used to sit and watch my dad drive from the back-seat and the first time I got in the car, I could drive. I’ve never read a manual of anything; I’ve watched someone do it and I could do it.
"I remember doing my test and a couple of lessons, I did one lesson in Cambridge, where I was going to college, and then I did two lessons in my town (Stevenage), I couldn’t get a slot to do my test where I grew up, where I knew the roads, for like four months or something.
"So I found one (a test slot) in Essex. So, I got on the train, I didn’t know the roads, and it was definitely nerve-wracking. I’m pretty sure I got a minor.”
Hamilton is obviously a natural driver and not only in a racing car. Passing after only three lessons is nearly as impressive as the 5 World Championships he's won!
