Red Bull-Renault to return in the future? Marko: "Not while Max drives for us..."
According to Helmut Marko, there's only a very small chance that Aston Martin Red Bull Racing will return to Renault engines in the future. As long as Max Verstappen stays at the team, a return to the previous engine supplier will never happen.
The Red Bull Racing Honda relationship is starting to squeeze out race wins and podiums, but Red Bull haven't achieved as many wins as they did during the 2018 F1 season.
Renault were dealt another blow when McLaren announced they will leave the French team after the 2020 F1 season. The Woking-based team will have a Mercedes engine in the back of their car once again.
Despite Honda's success, an F1 venture beyond 2020 hasn't been clarified yet. German company Auto Motor und Sport asked Helmut Marko if a return to Renault engines will be made in the future.
"As long as Verstappen is driving for us, there will never be a Renault engine in our car," Marko replied.
