Binotto wants FIA Ferrari power unit protest to show "how stupid" rumours are
Ferrari impressed during the winter testing, but then the pace suddenly seemed to fade in the opening round of the 2019 F1 world championship. After the summer break, the Ferrari pace has suddenly increased again. Competition is questioning this sudden change. Did Ferrari cheat with the power source? Mattia Binotto thinks it's nonsense.
Rumours go in the paddock that Ferrari has an illegal source of power that gives them an unfair advantage over the competition. According to Adam Cooper, it's probably a matter of time until one of the rival teams makes a formal complaint about the pace of the power source.
The journalist went to get a story from the Ferrari team boss himself. Mattia Binotto indicates that nothing is wrong and even calls for a formal investigation into the Ferrari power source.
The Italian reacts witty: “I would be happy because then they can see how stupid they are and stop the rumours."
I asked @ScuderiaFerrari boss Mattia Binotto on the grid just now about a potential PU protest and he said: "I would be happy because then we can show how stupid they are and stop the rumours..."
