"To whom it may concern: Thank you!"
Valtteri Bottas may not have been able to prevent Lewis Hamilton from winning a sixth World Championship but the Finn has expressed his gratitude after his best season in the pinnacle of motorsport.
Bottas has won four races this season making it his best year to date. His victory at the Circuit of the Americas adding to his victories in Australia, Azerbaijan and Russia helping him top his 2017 season.
However, he was unable to prevent his teammate from wrapping up another World Championship. Despite this, Bottas will keep his seat in 2020 and will look to mount a more maintained title challenge.
He may not have been victorious in his search for a title but Bottas paid tribute to his team for their work this season.
"To whom it may concern: Thank you!" Bottas said on the Mercedes website.
"I have no words to describe how proud I am to be part of this amazing team and how grateful I am for the work that every single one of you has done to make this achievement possible - I can only imagine the workload, the commitment and all the sacrifices you've made to make this happen, so thank you very much!
"It's amazing to be part of the team that clinched the constructors' title. Let me repeat something I said last year when I was standing here: Let's do it all again next year, I know we can do it! Huge congratulations to Lewis as well for winning the drivers' championship this year - next year it won't be that easy..."
