Daniel Ricciardo won't keep his "guard up" when Esteban Ocon joins Renault
Esteban Ocon is set to replace Nico Hulkenberg at Renault next year. Daniel Ricciardo knows what it is like to have a young teammate from his time at Red Bull Racing but says that he won't keep his "guard up" when the Frenchman joins the team.
“He’s a slim boy, the slimmest driver I’ve ever seen in my life,” Ricciardo said to Sky Sports F1 when asked about his teammate for next season.
“I’ll be kind of going back to the scenario I had with Max. I’m now the old guy in the team but I’m not coming into it with my guard up [against him].
“I’m coming in knowing if we both do what we’ve got to do, we’ve got a chance to bring this team forward to where we both want it.”
Ricciardo will want the two drivers to help each other so that the team performs as well as possible. The Aussie will be able to help Ocon at the team and might even learn a thing or two from the Frenchman!
