Toto Wolff says Ferrari have an advantage of "more than fifty horsepower"
It is no secret that the Ferrari engine has been more powerful at certain Grand Prix's than that of the Mercedes. Toto Wolff is confident that he knows why Ferrari had a more powerful engine and thinks that his team can make the improvements to catch up for next season.
"It fluctuates, but we have seen differences of more than fifty horsepower and the scope is that it continues to rise," Wolff said to Motorsport.com. "If we take all the measures that are needed, we should be more balanced in terms of power."
Despite having the more powerful engine, Ferrari have been unable to convert this into performances to genuinely threaten Mercedes' championship.
"It varies from job to job. In Mexico, I even thought they had a small advantage during qualifying, but that was because of the altitude [of the circuit]. Our architecture was not optimized for that."
Ferrari will hope to develop their engine further so that they can start next season well and really challenge Mercedes for the championship.
