Racing Point keeping a keen eye on Mick Schumacher
Racing Point's boss Otmar Szafnauer says the team are keeping a keen eye on Mick Schumacher's performances in Formula 2. The son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher sits 12th in the world championship with just one round remaining.
The 20-year-old is currently part of Ferrari's junior set-up and has driven a current Formula 1 car in testing this season. Szafnauer confirms his team are looking at his talents, but also suggests it'll be a very competitive market.
"Everyone in the pitlane is watching what Mick Schumacher is doing very attentively. We have quite a few drivers in mind and we're watching them in the junior categories. There are some pretty good guys out there," Szafnauer told Speed Week.
Sergio Perez signed a three-year deal at Racing Point which will lock him down until the end of 2022. His teammate, Lance Stroll, is the son of Racing Point's owner.
