Verstappen "pretty happy" to finish 2019 third
Max Verstappen says he is "pretty happy" to secure third in the standings after coming home second in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Verstappen started alongside race winner and champion Lewis Hamilton, and fought off some car issues and Charles Leclerc to take 18 points.
Verstappen has been one of the best performers in 2019, winning three races and out-driving his car at times, finishing ahead of both Ferrari drivers in the end.
After the race, the Dutchman told David Coulthard: "I had a few little issues today, but it wouldn't have made a difference to the end result.
"Lewis and Mercedes were just a bit too quick. P3 in the championship is a good result and I'm pretty happy with that.
"To be P3 in the championship was a nice ending. We are all working hard, but good to take some time off and be with family and friends and come back stronger next year."
