Russell reflects on driving the W10 in post-season testing
It has been a tough debut season for George Russell at Williams, but the Brit got a chance to show off his potential as he topped the timesheets during post-season testing.
Russell finished bottom of the Drivers' Championship scoring zero points as his best finish was eleventh at the German Grand Prix. Despite his difficult introduction to the pinnacle of motorsport, Russell has gained plenty of admirers this season.
The 2018 Formula 2 Champion will be joined by Nicholas Latifi at Williams next season, after Robert Kubica, bowed out at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Although he raced for Williams all season, Russell got the chance to drive for Mercedes in post-season tasting and he topped the timesheets during the second day.
"It’s been a pleasure driving the championship-winning W10 today," Russell said after his day of testing in the W10.
"We tested the 2020 tyres and I’ve learned a huge amount about them which I’m sure will help both myself and the team going into next season, which is very positive.
"It’s been an enjoyable day at the track and I’ll get more track-time in next week when I’ll do the tyre development test for Pirelli before my season finally comes to a close."
