Bernie Ecclestone's daughter has £50million worth of jewellery stolen from home
Tamara Ecclestone, the daughter of former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has had £50million worth of jewellery stolen from her home while they were away on holiday with her husband and young daughter.
The three burglars involved in the incident most likely came through the garden and then went to their safes in the bedrooms. Reports suggest they were in the house for around 50 minutes and then left through a window with rings, earrings and a bracelet. Ecclestone lives inside a neighbourhood which also houses Prince William, Kate and Chelsea football owner Roman Abramovich.
The spokesperson for the daughter of the former Formula 1 boss confirms that there has indeed been a robbery and says that the family is doing well.
Bernie himself believes the robbery was part of an inside job. With security on offer 24 hours a day and a guard sitting inside Tamara's CCTV room at the time, the 89-year-old gives his thoughts on the incident.
"I don't have all the facts but given all the security at the house, I'm assuming it was an inside job. It’s an awful thing to happen just after she had left the house to go to Lapland. Although maybe it’s better that she wasn’t in at the time," Ecclestone told the Daily Mail.
"I’ve tried to call her this morning to see what the latest is but I couldn’t get through."
No arrests have yet been made.
