Daniel Ricciardo on the change he wants to make at Renault
Daniel Ricciardo is one of the fastest drivers on the grid. Having joined Renault from Red Bull Racing at the start of last season, things haven't gone as well as the Australian would have hoped. Renault finished the season fifth in the constructor's championship but Ricciardo is hoping that work over the winter will get his team in the right place for the 2020 season.
"I’ve got some ideas. Some team morale stuff, call it like ‘team building’ and some activities," Ricciardo told Dieter Rencken.
"But I think more importantly, just to spend time with the team even away from the track. At the track like with Cyril [Abiteboul, team principal] sometimes it’s like ‘hi’ and that’s all you get over a weekend because he’s busy, I’m busy. So you don’t always get quality time at the circuit."
Ricciardo feels that relationships with the people at the team is important and that creating a healthy environment is key to success.
"I feel that to take this relationship to the next level, getting time away from the track is good. Just having that feeling for the guys, if they know each other a bit more then they’ll want to work a little bit harder for each other and make some good stuff happen."
Ricciardo is a key figure at Renault and is a natural leader. He will look to pull the team together and bring them success in 2020.
