Ferrari got "fundamental things" wrong in 2019
Former F1 driver Karun Chandhok says that Ferrari made a big mess of the 2019 F1 season, claiming that they should have taken the title fight to the last few races. The Italians made plenty of mistakes during the season and failed to properly capitalise on having serious pace towards the end of the season.
Charles Leclerc won two races in his first season with the team but Sebastian Vettel only won once as both drivers were beaten in the standings by Max Verstappen of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing.
And now former HRT and Lotus driver Chandhok claims that they should've done far better than they did.
He said on Motorsport Magazine's 2019 podcast: “Once again though Ferrari are the perennial underachievers.
“Sochi, the whole team orders thing was just a joke, on lap three you’re trying to impose team orders.
“In Monaco [during Q1] they didn’t send Leclerc out for another run. It doesn’t matter how many tyres you don’t have in Q2, if you’re out in Q1 in Monaco you’re finished.
“It’s just some fundamental things where you look at it and think 'what are you doing?'".
