Max Verstappen praises Honda for huge engine improvements
Max Verstappen has praised Honda for their hard work in improving the engine in his Aston Martin Red Bull Racing car, saying that with the right developments, his team can give him machinery capable of winning the title.
Verstappen impressively won three races in 2019, finishing above both Ferrari drivers in third in the standings, but the Dutch star will be looking for more in 2020.
He only has one year left to beat Sebastian Vettel's record for youngest champion, having previously set the records for youngest full time driver, points scorer, podium finisher and race winner.
He told Autosport: "I think we are in the right direction. There's no question about that.
"Now, it's just about how much development we can push through. I more or less know, I just hope it's going to be enough.
"There are no real changes in the regulations anyway, so you can just build on what you have now. And with a second year working with Honda, I think that should help.
"We massively improved the performance of the engine. I think we know where we have to improve on, we've already improved on the car."
