Mattia Binotto knows what went wrong in 2019 and is ready to fix it ahead of 2020
Mattia Binotto knows what went wrong in 2019 and believes that Ferrari have adapted and will come out for the 2020 season as genuine competitors for the championship. Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel will hope that Binotto is right and that they can consistently aim to win races.
“We were under a lot of pressure, but the team remained united,” said Binotto. “We were able to address what have been the issues and even if we have not closed completely the gap, especially in cornering I believe that in the second half of the season we addressed positively the problems we had, and this is showing that the team is capable of developing and moving in the right direction. So I think that's the positive of the season."
Binotto knows where his team went wrong and thinks that they can fix things ahead of the 2020 season.
“The reason for not winning more was we were not reliable enough, because of some drivers’ mistakes, because of some strategy mistakes. If there is anything we have learned this season is that to win, we need to be perfect in all the areas.
"The only times we won, we have been perfect in every area - team strategy, drivers, car reliability, and this shows the level of competitiveness that we are facing at the moment.”
Ferrari will fix the issues that they had in 2019 and come out firing for 2020.
