Fred Vasseur at Ferrari would be better: "Mattia Binotto is too nice, too sweet"
Maurizio Arrivabene finished his work with Ferrari in 2018 and Mattia Binotto has been in charge ever since. He has struggled to get to Ferrari to where they need to be and some are now suggesting that Fred Vasseur would be a better candidate.
"I think that if you were to make Frederic Vasseur there, things would turn out very differently. That is my favorite, I would like to see it there," journalist Jack Plooij said to Grand Prix Radio. "Because from below in the development at Ferrari, you are a bit too careful in your approach. I think there is only one approach at Ferrari.
"Michael Schumacher, for example, once had a big hand in that, by bringing the right people to that team. And from the top down it was said, that's how we're going to do it. Now I feel that it still doesn't happen." To which host of the podcast Robin Leféber said that Binotto is too nice. Plooij agreed. "Yes, he is too sweet, too nice."
Would Vasseur be better than Binotto?
There is a real argument that suggests that Vasseur would be a more authoritative leader at Ferrari and that he could be the man to bring success to the Italian team.
Binotto has seemingly struggled to lead during his time in charge and there have been multiple issues between Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel which would have been stamped out by a more authoritative leader.
Binotto will really need to prove himself in 2020 if he is to hold onto his job. If Ferrari don't succeed then surely he will be out of a job and they will be forced to bring in Vasseur to get the team back to the top of the sport.
