Valtteri Bottas first saw DAS development almost a year ago!
Valtteri Bottas says that he first saw the DAS system that has taken testing by storm almost a year ago. It was noticed on Thursday that Lewis Hamilton was moving his steering wheel forwards and backwards and the world of F1 was transfixed by what it did.
It turns out that this system has been in development for almost a year, as revealed by Mercedes' Finnish star.
Other teams say that they won't try to copy the system, claiming it would take far too long for them to develop it, as confirmed by Bottas.
He told media in Barcelona: "I've been aware of it for quite a long time. It's not a quick project. I think the first time I heard something about it was nearly one year ago or something.
"It's very nice to be the only team running that kind of system. I think it tells something about the great minds our team has.
"It's not just an easy thing to start making and designing, then actually making it work as it is now. We're still learning about the system and the potential, but I think in some kind of circumstances, it can be really good. That will be shown later in the year in different conditions and tracks."
