"I came to Ferrari to win the Championship, the determination is still there"
There had been much speculation that Sebastian Vettel was going to announce his departure from Ferrari at this afternoon's press conference. However, the German has said that he is happy at the team and that he wants to win with them.
"I love racing, I am here to win," Vettel said. “I came to Ferrari to win the championship, but I haven't succeeded yet. The determination is still there."
Both Vettel and team boss Mattia Binotto were present at the press conference but they could not confirm the future driving lineup at the team and Vettel even asked for no more questions on the subject to be asked.
However, Binotto dis say that the German would be the first choice to race alongside Charles Leclerc who has already signed a five-year contract with the team. When asked if it painful for Vettel to see Leclerc getting a long extension he disagreed.
“No. I’m quite happy for him. I don’t know why it should be painful. I have a good relationship with Charles. We get along. Obviously, we are in a different stage of our careers."
It seems that Vettel's future in the sport will be determined by how well he performs in the 2020 season.
