"Only the teams know" if they are quick or not, says Valtteri Bottas
Valtteri Bottas says only the teams know how good their cars are as testing comes to a conclusion in Barcelona. It's been a mixed bag in testing so far, with no one team dominating. Mercedes will still be favourites in Australia, but Bottas says the nature of the grid is unknown.
Mercedes raised eyebrows in the first week of testing with their DAS system, but it hasn't been since. There have also been promising lap times for Racing Point and Renault in week two, but we won't know who is best for a while yet.
Bottas will be hoping Mercedes are still the best team on the grid as he goes after a first world title, after missing out last season to the rampant Lewis Hamilton.
The Finn told media in Barcelona: "It's a weird game in this sport sometimes with how much you're showing, your speed in testing.
"Only the teams themselves know the true form they have. They can calculate and add up everything in terms of performance, what lap time they could do in theory, and we can only guess what other teams are running and how much they have in their pocket.
"We've learned as a team that it's important to keep focusing on our own work and own performance, doing our job, and eventually the time will come that everyone will show their cards."
