For once, Leclerc agrees with Verstappen: "He is absolutely right"
Charles Leclerc completed his debut Ferrari season in a fine style, topped by winning the Italian Grand Prix. The man from Monaco did make some clear mistakes though, and those must be ironed out.
Ferrari slows down
During winter testing in Barcelona, Leclerc challenged the top of the timesheets. But that was only when their rivals, including Racing Point, were running with slower tyres. Team boss Mattia Binotto has been honest about the situation and said that he doesn't expect to win in Australia. While they could be hiding things, Ferrari are certainly aiming for more downforce.
"We've worked hard to make the turns much better, but we've lost some speed. There is still a lot of work to be done for us, but that applies to every team," Leclerc tells Italian sports newspaper Il Resto del Carlino.
Leclerc and Verstappen agree
According to Max Verstappen, the Formula 1 world championship is determined by which car you drive. The Dutchman says Hamilton is good, but in the end, you are all defeated and very dependent on your material. Leclerc and Verstappen will be both trying to push Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes as they both agree with each other on this.
"Max is right, nobody is unbeatable. Not even Lewis, who of course is a great champion. He is of course much more experienced than I am and therefore a lot more complete. For example, I have to become much better at saving my tires. Hamilton is a real phenomenon in this," Leclerc concludes.
