Andretti excited by some of the old charms of the returning Zandvoort
The Zandvoort circuit has undergone some changes since it was confirmed to be the first race in the European leg of the F1 season in 2020 and Mario Andretti expects the drivers to enjoy the circuit when the race returns for the first time since 1985.
The Dutch Grand Prix will return on May 3rd, 2020 and Max Verstappen will be welcomed in by a sea of orange by his home crowd. It is the first F1 race at the track since 1985 but Mario Andretti's last appearance came in 1981.
Andretti is therefore glad to see some of its charm kept amid all the rennovations. He explained to Motorsport that he reckons the current grid will enjoy racing there and he is looking forward to its return.
"I have never been there again," Andretti told Motorsport.com.
“I haven't looked at the new layout very well yet, but I have no doubt that some things have changed since my last visit! I'm sure the drivers will enjoy it there.
"I always loved going through the dunes there. I understand that much of the circuit's old character has been preserved, which is very positive. It will be wonderful to have a Grand Prix there again.
