ACO president reassures fans over Le Mans
Sporting events are dropping like flies due to the coronavirus outbreak and could Le Mans 24 hour be next? Well, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) has tried to reassure fans of the endurance challenge, that the event will take place at some point this year.
The world of motorsport missed the opening race of the Formula 1 season on Sunday as the Australian Grand Prix, along with the Bahrain and Vietnam races, joining the Chinese Grand Prix. Racing in the pinnacle of motorsport is most likely to get back underway at the end of May at the earliest.
Other sports including football, rugby and tennis have all been heavily affected. There's still hope for the 2020 edition of Le Mans which is set to take place on the 13th and 14th June. The president of the ACO has assured fans it will take place at some point this year.
"We are keeping a close eye on the situation and we are following instructions given to us by health authorities," Pierre Fillon said in a statement.
"Whatever happens, there will be a 24H from Le Mans this year," he continued.
