Gene Haas would have cautiously hinted at the beginning of March that a repeat of the 2019 season for Haas F1 would possibly mean the end of the American racing stable in the royal class of motor racing. However, Guenter Steiner thinks that the statements of the team owner have been taken out of context.

Where Haas finished fifth in the constructors' championship in 2018, it had to settle for a ninth place last year. Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean had collected twice as few points as number eight Alfa Romeo.

"I wasn't there when he (Gene Haas) said that, so I don't know what's make and break", Steiner says in conversation with Autosport.com. The team boss of Haas doesn't want to dwell too long on it. ""I think it was taken a little bit out of context."

Haas is still very involved

Steiner is not worried about Haas' future in Formula 1. The Italian spoke to the American owner on the Thursday of the Australian Grand Prix. "He phoned me up seeing if everything was OK here. He wants to see how we are doing, what is going on with the team. I had 50 minutes with him on the phone. I think he's committed", Steiner closes his story.
