The Formula 1 calendar will look very different when the season finally starts again, but that will not be the case for the game of the same name. Codemasters has announced that it will choose the original calendar.

Codemasters F1

Codemasters has had the rights to the official Formula 1 game since 2008 (then only for Wii and from 2010 for all platforms) and has taken important steps in the realism of the game in recent years. Now that eSports is becoming more and more important, the game is also essential. For the time being, the game still lags behind well-known simulations such as iRacing and Rfactor.

For 2020, however, the game opts for slightly less realism, because with the current uncertain times, the calendar would have to wait a while. However, Codemasters does not do that. ''We'll just keep the 22 circuits on the calendar that were also on the original calendar'', says Codemasters F1 franchise director Paul Jeal against Racefans.net.

Yet racing at Zandvoort

In the newest game of Codemasters you can drive on the new circuit of Zandvoort and it is also possible to race in the streets of Hanoi. ''The most important thing now is to see what impact the current situation has on the sport with all the factories having to close. We now have to take those things into account in our planning. Hopefully it will not be long now before we can announce the game'', concludes Jeal who does not want to deviate far from the original release.

Last year, Codemasters released the game earlier than in previous years and fans already had the game available in June. Whether that is already the case remains to be seen, since the season has not even begun yet, where the game will be released normally when the season is almost halfway.
