As soon as F1 season starts, Verstappen and Norris will do less e-racing
- GPblog.com
At the moment Formula 1 drivers have enough free time because of the postponed Formula 1 season. Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are frequently involved in sim racing, which can be followed online, which has also increased its popularity. But their actions online will decrease as soon as they start racing again.
Interesting
"It is the only thing going on at the moment – it's the only really interesting thing for a lot of the motorsport fans and people that want to watch racing and watch us drivers," says Norris about online racing at Motorsport.com. "So then you just get on top of that a bit more interaction with a lot of people - a bit more media and stuff."
"I think it's a good thing not just for myself but for E-sports in general, for sim racing. Because I think it's just expanding the racing world – more and more people are getting into it, the numbers are all just getting higher and higher in terms of people participating and everything."
Switching focus
Because they have a lot of free time, the drivers can participate in all kinds of races, but for both Verstappen and Norris their focus has to be back on real races. "Once everything does go back to normal, I'm going have to switch my focus a bit more back to what I need to be doing once we are able to go back to McLaren and start working harder – go on the simulator and [work on] set-up."
The same of course applies to Verstappen, who, just like Norris, will then be less at home where he has his entire sim race set-up. Norris: "I won't be home as much, I wouldn't be able to stream as much and I'll have to take things a bit more seriously again."
