The Virtual Grand Prix of China, which will be held next Sunday, has again added an extra Formula 1 driver to the line-up. Carlos Sainz will make his debut this weekend. McLaren will be the second team to have both F1 drivers actually on the grid for the Virtual Grand Prix, as Lando Norris will also participate again on Sunday.
Besides Sainz, Juan Manuel Correa is also a newcomer in the series. The driver drove in Formula 2 last year, but after a serious crash with Anthoine Hubert, the Colombian had to fight for his life. Because he was already at home a lot of time behind a racing wheel, and now he will drive the virtual Grand Prix for Alfa Romeo.
More than a third of the F1-grid
With the arrival of Sainz, a total of seven F1 drivers will drive the Grand Prix. Besides Sainz and Norris, Charles Leclerc, Alexander Albon, George Russell, Nicholas Latifi and Antonio Giovinazzi will participate. Williams will also have both drivers at the start of the virtual Grand Prix.
There are also still teams that do not send either driver. So Haas has still selected both test drivers to participate, and Renault chooses to send test driver Guanyu Zhou, the winner of the first virtual Grand Prix in Bahrain. Racing Point opts for a familiar line-up, by selecting Anthony Davidson and Jimmy Broadbent to ride. Both also drove the previous Grand Prix for Racing Point.
