Raikkonen: "That's not what I chose this job for''

Where several drivers can often be found online to keep track of their racing qualities, Kimi Raikkonen isn't joining in on the action. The Finn may be in his final year in the sport and has no need for the sim races.
All the time for the children
For Raikkonen, just like for all other drivers, it's just a waiting game untill they can race again. The coronavirus has brought the whole world to a standstill, causing the start of the Formula 1 season to grind to a halt. This isn't a big problem for the Finn, because he can now finally spend some more time with his children.
''All the time I have now I spend on my children. Fortunately we can always be out here and you can still do a lot by hand'', said Raikkonen to Corriere della Sera, who has been on a plane in Australia before. ''Maybe I already knew, but does that matter? It was cancelled and now we'll hear when we're going to take off again.''
No simulator for Kimi
Now that Raikkonen has a little more time, he can also think about his future. ''We have to get going first and then we'll see. Not much has changed for me yet. As long as I enjoy racing, I will continue. I'm more motivated than ever, but I'm really not going to participate in those online races. Then I'll wait until I can get back on the track.''
The simulator has never been a good friend of Raikkonen. ''At Ferrari it wasn't that I didn't like it, but then you fly to Italy to be in that thing and that's not exactly why I chose this job. Simulators are just very different from a real car'', concludes the last world champion of Ferrari.
