Williams: "For us, going racing is actually critical this year"

According to Claire Williams, it's crucial for independent teams to survive this year. The first nine races of this season have so far been cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus.
Formula 1 has already announced that they are aiming for a calendar with fifteen to eighteen races this season, which will then probably start in Austria. It looks more and more like the French Grand Prix will also be cancelled soon.
Problems at Williams
The races generate a considerable amount of revenue for the teams. This can put smaller teams in financial difficulties. Williams is one of these teams and team boss Claire Williams tells Sky Sports that F1 is in an incredibly difficult situation.
“That is why we have spent so much time locked away in so many team principals' meetings to do everything we need, to make sure all of us come out of this, at the end of this year, unscathed”, Says Williams
It's crucial
"A big part of that is when we can go racing again, particularly for a team like ours - one of the few true independents left", says Williams "We don't have the backing the majority of our competitors have. For us, going racing is actually critical this year, but as I have said, only when it's safe to do so."
