'Sebastian Vettel to Mercedes would be a stunner!'

Despite the fact that there hasn't been raced yet this year, several drivers are busy arranging a seat for next year. According to Marc Surer, Sebastian Vettel is therefore unlucky in his contract negotiations.
For years Vettel has been the undisputed number one at Ferrari, but that changed last year with the arrival of Charles Leclerc. Moreover, the Monegask already has a contract until 2024, while that of Vettel expires at the end of this year and he has not yet had a chance to prove himself in 2020.
There are therefore stories that Vettel will have to settle for a greatly reduced salary, which is a logical consequence according to Marc Surer. "Where is Vettel going? Ferrari knows exactly where he wants to go, so they have the upper hand in the negotiations. Vettel got a very lucrative contract with Ferrari at the time. It is clear that he will have to accept a loss. It is not a lack of appreciation, rather high level poker," explains the former F1 driver to Speedweek.com.
Vettel to Mercedes?
It is therefore also possible that Vettel will look for an alternative team. "Why not Mercedes? I don't know now if Lewis Hamilton would accept him as a teammate, but it would be a stunner. And the traditional company would also have a German in the car again. When Nico Rosberg retired, it was bad news for the company."
The chances of getting a seat at Mercedes only seem slim. In addition, the name of McLaren also goes around in the corridors, but Surer doesn't seem to be a good option for Vettel. "If he wants to be world champion, he won't move to McLaren. It just takes too long there, especially because the new regulations have been postponed. They will make progress with the Mercedes engine, but I don't think that they will fight for the title next year", concludes the Swiss.
