Charles Leclerc has been a Ferrari driver since 2019, after having driven a season for Sauber. Leclerc's dream has always been to become a Ferrari driver, and as a child he looked up to Michael Schumacher. In an interview with Formula1.com Leclerc reveals his first meeting with the seven-time world champion.

"I was very impressed, that's something I really remember. I don't remember exactly what we talked about, because the only thing I remember is that I saw his red overalls, I looked at him a lot and like every other child at that time, I watched Michael a lot", says Leclerc about his first meeting at Paul Ricard, when Schumacher was testing with Ferrari.

A special moment

"It really was a very special moment. I remember when we went into the paddock and had the chance to see him for real". Leclerc was in Paul Ricard to test with his go-kart friends. "The meeting was really nice. I asked him if he could sign my overalls and then he had to go to his mechanics again".

Leclerc himself indicates to be lucky that he met Schumacher at a quiet moment, where normally a lot of people pay attention to the German. "He was very nice. We were lucky in the paddock, that there was no one at all. Luckily he took the time to talk to us. It was really very nice", said Leclerc.
