Silverstone's director says, "Without our fans, we wouldn't exist''

The British Grand Prix will be held in 2020 without an audience. At least, if the Grand Prix will be held at all, because that is of course only the question. The director of Silverstone explains why this has been chosen.
No audience at Silverstone
''I'm very disappointed that we won't be able to organize a race with the fans present this year. We have deliberately postponed this decision for as long as possible, but with the current circumstances it is clear that we are not going to make it. In order to guarantee the safety and health of everyone, we will keep the 2020 Grand Prix behind closed doors'', Silverstone's statement says.
However, Stuart Pringle is not going to sit back and hopes to have a great event. ''We need to find alternative ways to race in the current conditions and behind the scenes we are now working hard to make this happen. If this works out, it will be possible for everyone to follow it live on Sky and Channel 4'', says Pringle.
Money back
Silverstone therefore tries to accommodate the fans as much as possible and reimburses the entire ticket. ''Our fans are very important to us and without you we wouldn't exist. Fans who have bought a ticket can get their money back or they can convert the ticket into a ticket for 2021. In the next two weeks we will contact you about this.''
Now that it is clear that there will be racing without an audience, the main question is what will happen to the race itself. Is it still feasible to race the race itself and what effect will this have for the Austrian Grand Prix? Is it possible to race with an audience or will there be the same fate for that race?
