Pirelli boss Isola got a headache from Zandvoort, but finally found a solution

The Grand Prix of the Netherlands will not be held this weekend. The ultimate test of the renewed Circuit Zandvoort will not take place this weekend. Also the question how the tyres would cope with the banked turns remains unanswered for the time being. Mario Isola of Pirelli says that it was quite difficult to prepare the tyres.
"That banking was our headache of the year I have to say", Isola says at 'Formula 1 Café' on Ziggo Sport with a smile on his face. However, he resolutely rejects the question of whether he is secretly happy that it will not happen. "I don't want to say that at all. That banking is something new, something exciting, but also tricky because the tyres are under extra pressure".
Because the Grand Prix of the Netherlands will not be held and probably not in the remaining months of 2020, Pirelli now has extra time to test for the challenge of Zandvoort. However, Isola is convinced that they already found the right solution and says they are 100 percent prepared.
"We did some simulations with the teams and the reason that we tested with that tyre in Barcelona was purely to be prepared. If Zandvoort were to be driven now, I think we would drive on the normal tire with a higher pressure for the banked turns".
