Button and Alonso are fighting for a place at McLaren

McLaren will participate again in the IndyCar season in 2020 and despite a failed 2019, there are plenty of drivers interested in the seat. For example, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso would both like to get into the car.
Three drivers aces for a spot
For the coming season, the Spaniard has already secured himself a seat during the Indy500 and both parties have also stated that there is a possibility to expand that cooperation. According to Motorsport.com, Alonso is currently looking forward to a longer season.
Alonso would be back in action for the first time during the GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis on Motor Speedway. The Spaniard would be accompanied by teammates Patricio O'Ward and Oliver Askew. Those races are still on the schedule, although the coronavirus has caused quite a bit of planning chaos.
Brown confirms
According to Motorsport.com, however, not only would Alonso aces on a seat, but there are also conversations going on with Jenson Button and NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson. Those conversations are now in the queue, while McLaren is waiting for the consequences of the coronavirus, Zak Brown now announces.
''I've spoken to all three drivers and it goes without saying that they are all very competitive. They could all get into the sport without a huge preparation and it would not surprise me if we will see one of them or perhaps several at a time in IndyCar'', concludes Brown.
