At the moment we are working hard on a new calendar for this year and although there are still some obstacles to overcome, it looks like there will be quite a few races. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff estimates the chance of fifteen races quite high, but only if there is no second wave of corona infections.

Easily achievable

"I think it's realistic for Liberty to organize fifteen races if all goes well with the coronavirus. With these events we do in Europe during the summer, we can easily reach the eight to ten races," said Toto Wolff at the Austrian public broadcaster ORF.

So it's important to keep the pandemic under control so that Formula 1 can continue to travel from track to track as a bubble. With the relaxation of the measures in many countries it looks good, but there is a fear of a second wave. It depends on that.

"It's not the most important thing in the world. But if we can contribute something to the entertainment and distraction of the fans, as is now the case with the Bundesliga in Germany, then that's a good thing", says Wolff today in the Kronen Zeitung.
