In 2020 there will not be a race in Monaco, so the organisation will do all it takes for 2021. The inhabitants of the Principality of Monaco will await a long partial closure of the city. The temporary circuit is expected to be there for no less than five weeks in 2021. According to Allan McNish it won't be a problem for the residents.

The Historic Grand Prix, which is always organised the weekend before Formula 1 GP, has been alternating with Formula E for a number of years. Every other year one of the two events takes place on the streets of Monte Carlo. This will not be the case in 2020. In fact, because of the coronavirus, nothing will happen at all. Therefore in 2021 all three events will take place, including the normal F1 GP.

For five weeks, the residents of the Principality will have to surrender their place of residence to racing. According to FE Audi team boss Allan McNish, who also lives in Monaco, the inhabitants of Monaco will not find it a big problem. Formula E is often in the news because residents of the cities in which they drive complain about inconvenience.

Monaco organizes more than races

Autosport spoke to McNish: "I don't think we risk upsetting the locals with the shutdown. Construction starts in March, so there's a lot of time to run it properly. Besides, there's always something going on in the port area."

"Therefore, it's not as if all that happens in the month of May is motorsport."

For the motorsport enthusiast there's still plenty to do in May anyway. No less than three weekends in the month, action takes place on the prestigious streets of the Monaco street circuit.
