Wolff: "I've invested in Aston Martin, but remain team boss of Mercedes"
- GPblog.com
In recent weeks there have been many rumours about the future of Toto Wolff at Mercedes. The investor has bought shares in Aston Martin, which could hint that he is on his way to Racing Point, which is back in business with Aston Martin. However, Wolff has told GPFans.com that for now he will remain tied to Mercedes.
"I've been lucky to be on this team since 2014 and those have been years I'm never going to forget. I really like the interaction here and that I'm working on this Formula 1 team with a lot of friends. Of course I have to ask myself what I am going to do. I don't want to be a team boss who goes from great to good without realising that I'm adding less value to the team".
Stay at Mercedes
Wolff has been with the same team for a long time and indicates himself that he needs to be challenged continuously. "I still feel that I can add a lot, but of course I am thinking about my future. But of course I haven't made a decision yet, as the season has yet to start". Wolff prefers to wait to make a decision until the season has a few races on the way.
Wolff was clear about the purchase of the shares of Aston Martin. "I have indeed bought a number of shares of Aston Martin as an investment, because I believe in the company and in their current strategy. There is a very strong group of shareholders who are all behind the company and who will not let it fall quickly. That's why I decided to join them". Wolff does indicate that his position at Mercedes remains unchanged. "I'm with Mercedes now. I am the team boss and shareholder, but my plan is to stay with Mercedes", Wolff says.
