"Verstappen is just the best I've ever seen"
- GPblog.com
During the past year the question is regularly asked who is currently the best driver in Formula 1 and also who is the best driver of all time. A number of direct battles between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen and the fact that Hamilton is approaching Schumacher's records is the cause of this.
If you want to put together your ideal Formula 1 team, then answer at least one of those questions, because it's only logical to have at least the best driver of all time in your car. Jan Lammers explains to Motorsport.com why he chooses Max Verstappen in that case.
"Max is just the best I've ever seen. On their good day, drivers like Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher are not that different. What they can do is often quite similar. Only what they do on their less good days, there is still a difference."
Red Bull Racing almost perfect
According to Lammers, this is where Verstappen distinguishes itself. He is always good, no matter what the circumstances, he always gets the most out of it. "I've never been able to catch Verstappen on a bad day, or on a day when he wasn't motivated."
In the ideal F1 team of Lammers, Verstappen is assisted by Ayrton Senna as second driver and Juan Manuel Fangio as test driver. Christian Horner is the ideal team boss. A stable personality who always seems to attract the right people. In that respect, the current Red Bull Racing is not far from perfection in the eyes of Lammers.
