The Formula 1 season has eight confirmed races to date and after that it is uncertain. Chase Carey of Liberty Media recently indicated that the goal is to finish the remaining calendar by the end of June, but he did not want to give a guarantee. After all, the corona-pandemic still causes a lot of uncertainties. Still, Ross Brawn expects a solid season ahead.

Fly-away

In the F1 show of Sky Sports, Ross Brawn talked about the calendar about which he states that the pieces of the puzzle are slowly falling into place. That doesn't alter the fact that they are facing quite a challenge, but he is hopeful that it will all work out. Still, the challenge doesn't diminish, because after the eight races in Europe, Formula 1 will arrive at the 'fly-away' races, which will take place in the Middle East and Asia.

"Each country is in a different phase of this pandemic. We are optimistic that the situation will improve in several countries so we can go there. For permanent circuits, the decision can be taken relatively late. In places where circuits have to be built, the announcement will have to follow sooner."

Within Europe this is still easy to achieve in terms of logistics, outside Europe it is more difficult. Brawn: "The logistics are more difficult. The second half of the season will be a challenge, but I think we can have quite a season. More and more pieces of the puzzle are starting to fall into place."

But should 'fly-away' races turn out to be too difficult in the end, the season will not be limited to eight races. After all, Brawn indicated earlier that an expansion of the calendar in Europe is one of the possibilities. Options include Hockenheim, Mugello, Imola and Jerez.
