Bahrain surprised by Brawn's statements: ''There's never been a race for that''

Ross Brawn suggested for a second race in Bahrain with the track layout that goes around the current F1 circuit. The circuit has several layouts and according to Brawn the 'oval' was an ideal spot for a second race, but he didn't appear to have discussed this.
When Motorsport.com asks the CEO of the Barhein International Circuit about the layout, Sheikh Salman bin Isa al-Khalifa is surprised. ''We were also surprised by Ross' statements. He suggested it a long time ago, but we never really went through with it. The idea is new in that respect, but certainly feasible.''
Two races in Bahrain
However, the layout has never been used for races, Sheikh Salman says. ''It was designed for club racing, so people from large companies don't have to brake hard before each turn, but can just drive over the track. It's not really designed for a circuit either, but more like the inside and the outside''.
Although it's never meant to be a racing circuit, it can be used in that capacity, says circuit top man Fayez Ramzy. ''As far as safety is concerned, you can just organize a race there. Charlie Whiting took care of that, so with some small adjustments you can just race there," concludes Fayez.
