On the second day that Renault tested their 2018 car on the Red Bull Ring it was Esteban Ocon's turn to get into the car. His sabbatical has now stretched to a year and a half, so he could use every minute on the track.

Because it is not allowed for the team to use the current car for intermediate tests, Renault (following in the footsteps of Mercedes and others) also had to use the car from 2018. Just like last winter tests in Barcelona, Renault used a completely black test livery.

Daniel Ricciardo drove 115 laps yesterday and Ocon even came to 145 laps today on the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Because the team has to deal with corona measures in both the United Kingdom and France, a test in one of those two countries proved too complicated.

So the team opted for neutral terrain with Austria. A choice that can turn out well, since two Grands Prix will be organised on the same circuit in a few weeks time. In addition to the habituation of the team with the corona protocol, Ocon will certainly have benefited from extra mileage. The last time he had a whole race weekend was in November 2018.
