Football competitions have started in Europe and the motorsports world is also getting ready to accelerate. That will all happen behind closed doors for the time being. In the United States they have a bit less patience and this weekend a race event with an audience will even take place.
In the US they want to limit the consequences of the corona crisis to a minimum, so the new racing seasons has started for some time. NASCAR started at the end of their first race and IndyCar at the beginning of June. Both race classes still do that without an audience, but regional people can come to the circuit this weekend.
On the circuit Road America in the state of Wisconsin, the Vintage Festival of the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association is planned from the 19th to 21th of June. The organization invites everyone to come to the track to enjoy races with classic cars. The spectators are asked to observe the safety and hygiene rules involving the COVID-19 virus.
"Vintage racing is important to Road America and we are happy to have been able to keep SVRA on schedule for our 65th anniversary season. I'm proud that everyone in motorsport is committed to making the best of a situation that we absolutely didn't want and couldn't have planned for," says Mike Kertscher, track director of Road America.
