Hakkinen expects a lot of mistakes: "Not only for the drivers"
- GPblog.com
If we are to believe former world champion Mika Hakkinen, the teams and drivers will make a lot of mistakes during the season opener in a week's time.
Challenge
It will be a special challenge to restart Formula 1 on the Red Bull Ring according to Hakkinen. He predicts that many mistakes will be made. Not only by the drivers themselves.
"It will be very difficult to fight back if you have a problem with the car, transmission or aerodynamics. That has to be right from the first race. It will be a nightmare if the team gets technical problems or worries with the material", said Hakkinen in an interview with Laureus.com.
Mistakes
"It will be a very tight World Cup calendar and drivers will have to figure out how quickly they can recover from a race and how quickly they can improve through data analysis. I expect that there will be more mistakes, not only from the drivers, but also from the teams", said the former McLaren driver.
Many drivers have trained with other racing cars in recent months. Rally cars, karts or other Formula cars have passed by. "But nothing can match the power of a Formula 1 car if you accelerate out of a corner and feel five or six times your own body weight", Hakkinen concludes.
