Hamilton proud of Mercedes: "They took time to understand my passion''

In 2020 Mercedes will go to war not in silver, but in black. After all the recent events related to the racism debate, the German team has chosen to race in black throughout 2020.
Hamilton happy with Mercedes
The fight against racism has grown in the world since the death of George Floyd. Lewis Hamilton was part of this and was partly responsible for the fact that Formula 1 started a project to combat racism and also to increase diversity in motorsport. The fact that his team is now participating in this project is of course a good development.
''It is so important that we seize this moment to make real meaningful changes when it comes to ensuring equality and diversity. I've personally experienced racism in my life and I've seen my family and friends experience racism and I speak from the heart when I call for change,'' Lewis says in the Mercedes statement.
A signal for change
''When I talked to Toto about my hopes for what we as a team could achieve, I said it was so important that we were united. I want to thank Toto and the Mercedes-Board for taking the time to listen, talk and really understand my experiences and passion and for making this important statement that we are willing to change and improve as a company''.
Lewis is happy with the step Mercedes has taken. "We want to build a legacy that goes beyond the sport and if we can be the leaders and start building more diversity within our own business, that will send such a strong signal and give others the confidence to start a dialogue on how to make changes", concludes the Brit.
